sustainability

We believe that the global climate crisis and declining natural resources now force a deep social and economic transformation. As Biotrend, we position ourselves not just as an energy company, but as the sustainability department of the world.

Instead of eliminating waste, we bring it back into the life cycle. With our biodynamic (biocyclic) business model, we go beyond energy production from waste; with integrated waste management solutions, we create environmental, social, and economic value.

We strengthen every step with science, technology, and collaboration. Through cross-sector partnerships we develop innovative solutions; we not only support the circular economy but place it at the center of our business model.

We aim not only to reduce but to systematically balance against the climate crisis. While operating, we contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and continuously improve our performance in energy efficiency and water management. We minimize negative impacts and increase our positive influence day by day.

Putting people and the planet at the center, we build a healthy, safe, and participatory working culture. We establish open and transparent dialogue with all our stakeholders, united around shared values.

We take responsibility not just for today but for tomorrow. Because we know: a sustainable future starts today. We are implementing our sustainability strategy with the motto “Transformation is in Our Nature”, shaping this strategic framework with concrete actions.

Dear Stakeholders,

At Biotrend, we view sustainability as a fundamental way of doing business that guides all our operations. Through our integrated business model, which transforms waste into energy and reusable resources, we continue to generate environmental benefits while contributing to our country’s transition to a circular economy.

As we implement our sustainability strategy along the axes of “From Waste to Value,” “From Climate to Balance,” and “Toward a Shared Future,” we monitor this approach through performance indicators and integrate it into all our operations.

2025 was a year in which the results of this approach were clearly evident. As a result of the activities we carried out throughout the year:

  • • We contributed to renewable energy production by generating 547.02 GWh of net electricity,
  • • We managed approximately 15% of the waste processed across Türkiye, supporting the integration of resources into the circular economy,
  • • We recovered 22,773 metric tons of packaging waste at our mechanical sorting facilities, helping to reduce the use of natural resources,
  • • We achieved an 80% recovery rate for waste generated from our operational activities, reaching a high level of efficiency in waste management.

In line with our 2050 net-zero emissions target, we continue our efforts in energy efficiency, resource use, and emissions management. Through our waste-to-energy production model, we have focused on continuously improving the environmental performance of our operations while contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

To support our sustainable growth goals, we continued our investments in 2025 as well. While investing approximately 3 million TL in environmental performance improvement projects, we strengthened our efforts in energy efficiency and new technologies by allocating approximately 5 million TL to R&D and innovation activities. The steps we took in areas such as carbon and plastic credits and sustainable fuel solutions were among the key developments that enhanced our business model’s readiness for the future.

The year 2025 was also a period in which our sustainability efforts yielded significant results. Our inclusion in the Borsa Istanbul Sustainability Index and the publication of our first report under the TSRS were among the key developments that underscore our commitment to transparency and sustainability management.

We approach sustainability not merely as an environmental issue, but as a people-centered transformation process. As of 2025:

  • • We have reached our target by increasing the proportion of female employees to 25%,
  • • We have raised the proportion of female managers to 19%,
  • • We provided a total of 36,181 hours of training to our employees, averaging 43.9 hours of training per person.

These figures demonstrate not only our operational success but also our commitment to building an inclusive, growth-oriented, and sustainable human resources structure.

In the coming period, we will resolutely continue our investments aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, our adoption of cutting-edge technologies, and our circular economy-focused solutions. By strengthening our business model—which uses resources more efficiently, reduces our environmental impact, and generates long-term value—we aim to achieve sustainable growth for all our stakeholders.

The contributions of our dedicated team members, business partners, and stakeholders lie at the heart of all the successes we have achieved to date. I believe that the value we create together will contribute not only to Biotrend’s sustainable growth but also to our country’s transition to a circular economy, and I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to this journey.

Sincerely,
Mehmet Ali Nalçacıoğlu

Board of Directors
Chair Message

Dear Stakeholders,

Climate change, increasing pressure on natural resources, and a rapidly evolving global economy are redefining the responsibilities of the business world more comprehensively than ever before. Today, sustainability has evolved beyond being merely an area of environmental concern; it has emerged as a fundamental element that determines a company’s strategic direction and shapes risks and opportunities. This transformation requires organizations not only to generate economic value but also to effectively manage their environmental impacts, increase their social contributions, and adopt a strong governance framework.

At Biotrend, we view this change not as a necessity, but as an opportunity for transformation. Through our business model, we continue to contribute to both the reduction of environmental impacts and the circular economy by converting waste into energy and raw materials. Our sustainability strategy, shaped by our “Transformation Is in Our Nature” approach, not only addresses today’s needs but also provides a guiding framework for the transition to a low-carbon, resource-efficient economy of the future.

The year 2025 marked a period in which we made significant progress on our sustainability journey. Our inclusion in the Borsa Istanbul Sustainability Index demonstrates that the steps we have taken have resonated on both national and international platforms; at the same time, by publishing our first report under the Türkiye Sustainability Reporting Standards (TSRS), we further strengthened our commitment to transparency and accountability.

All these developments clearly demonstrate that sustainability has become an integral part of our corporate structure and a fundamental element of how we conduct business.

Rapidly evolving regulations and rising expectations on a global scale make it imperative to evaluate sustainability alongside financial performance. In this regard, as Biotrend, we continue to take concrete and measurable steps in the fight against climate change through our 2050 net-zero emissions target and our interim targets. While our investments in integrated waste management and renewable energy production contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, we prioritize continuous improvement focused on energy efficiency, resource utilization, and operational excellence.

Throughout 2025, in addition to advancing our waste management and energy production activities, we made significant progress in the areas of carbon and plastic credits, sustainable fuel solutions, and digitalization. These investments not only reduce our environmental impact but also enhance the resilience of our business model, thereby strengthening our capacity to create long-term value.

At the heart of our sustainability approach lies not only environmental performance but also a people-centered and inclusive corporate culture. We continue to foster a more inclusive work environment through initiatives that support our employees’ development and promote diversity and equity. Similarly, we prioritize creating social impact in the regions where we operate and building strong relationships with our stakeholders.

In the coming period, we will continue to focus on building a more resilient, agile, and sustainable business model in light of changing regulations, increasing climate risks, and evolving market dynamics. With our approach centered on technology, innovation, and partnerships, we aim to move forward by strengthening our growth strategy based on the circular economy.

The success we have achieved on this journey is thanks to the contributions of all our stakeholders, especially our team members. I would like to thank them for their trust in Biotrend and their cooperation. I believe that every step we take together contributes to building a more sustainable, resilient, and livable future; I thank all our stakeholders who walk this path with us.

Sincerely,
Mevhibe Canan Özsoy
